Greetings Otherkin,
Just a quick note:
Many of you have noticed that the list has been a little erratic with
regard to publication dates of late. The reason for this is that I am in
the process of separating from my husband, and have been involved with all
the arrangements to that effect. And, admittedly, a lot of what spare time
I *do* have around that has been spent hiding out with others of my Kin on
the IRC channel where I don't have to be so focused every moment on what's
going on in my personal life.
The point of all this bathos is that over the next month the list may
become even MORE erratic, and I may miss a week or two while I complete the
move and get settled in the new place. I want to reassure everyone that
the list is *NOT* going away. Once I get settled into my new apartment
(which will be sometime between the first and the fifteenth of October
depending on when I can rent the truck) life will start going back to
normal for awhile and the list should begin to be published more consistently.
I appreciate everyone's patience with me so far. :)

funny tho, just earlier tonight i was thinking, gee we haven't seen
a new TNO lately..

um, sorry, but no, i don't :( these illustrations dont seem quite related,
or maybe i'm just too tired.. and i *do* use thee backwards file analogy.
it works for me. i cant really envision a 'forwards file' - maybe i am
too grounded in thee apparent linear time flow.
then Chyros asked:

ay yi, such a question you are asking! and my answer is yes, all thee above.
and no, i dont really want to detail it much - has to do w/relationships and
personal issues. tho last night i was certain two Gateways had opened in

you've seen thee fabric in different transitions previously?
basically, i wd agree w/this. it's soumthing we've kinda talked about and
around on these lists, thee Gates Opening. i keep kinda wanting to deal
w/all this 'fae stuff' in thee abstract, it's a nice method ov agreeing on how
to discuss our lives.. but i keep getting forcibly reminded, like Mia Farrow

as i can reckon.

i know other Others who had had 'feelings' abt thee end ov August, and
for me at least, it turned out to be thee full moon that was thee worst. also
thee July moon was difficult and unpleasant, but August was worse by far..
i am watching thee current waxing w/trepidation. anything you care to share

Subject: Changelings*MAGICAL ELVEN LOVE LETTERS
The goblins, the grimlins and the orcs are not true races...
syrandas eldivu (enchanting kindred),
.....but, as Tolkein pointed out to us, were made in mockery of elves,
men and dwarves. They were captured from our peoples long ago and
tortured and abused until they became what they are today...twisted,
neurotic, psychotic, frustrated, angry, conniving and violent.
The goblins are so called for their tendency to gobble
everything...they are penultimate consumers and exploiters. They have a
tendency toward overweight and alcoholism and have been taught that it
is their "god given right" to consume and destroy everything they come
across... the trees, the earth, the seas and all the animals that
inhabit there of. They can be very clever but are prone to solipsism
and sophistry. They do, however, have a sense of humor generally;
unlike the grimlins who find little to laugh about except the
misfortunes of others.
The grimlins are, indeed, quite grim. They are extremely serious
about everything and can be found through history among every kind of
fanatical, fundamentalist, puritanical, goose stepping, heel clicking
zealots that have ever screwed up their faces and narrowed their beady
eyes when we've passed by. However, they can be quite clever, they are
extremely hardworking (to the point of insanity), abstinent beyond
reason and quite serious as parents, although quite often militarily
strict with their children and frequently perverse and abusive...but
usually in secret.
The orcs, on the other hand, are most often of very low
intelligence and/or education, they are often huge and muscular
physically, prone to drink and drugs and violence. Their most prominent
physical feature is their red necks. They are seldom in charge of
anything but are most often the basic storm trooper sort on the lower
levels of fascism, the klan and the mafia. They are bully boys and
proud of it. They are maddeningly inconsistent with their children,
being abusive and strict at one moment and supremely indifferent the
next.
None the less, while they have done little to deserve it, we would
be wise to treat them with dignity and respect. They...do not even
understand the concept! They think that respect comes from fear and
terror. We must show them otherwise, we must give them freely what they
have never known and in that...is a magic that will in time awaken their
very souls. Not quickly, mind you, and probably not in this lifetime,
but someday. And we must admit to you that there have been times when
we were low and down and out and who was it that came to our aide?
Grimlins. Hard though they may be...they do have souls, dear kindred,
and at the very core of those souls shines a spark from the eternal
fires of Valinor.
It is true though that there are those who have suffered so much at
their hands that they can not help but carry the scars and hate of that
abuse throughout their lives. These valiant souls have the unenviable
task of stemming the tide of cruelty. They have suffered much and can
not help but despise those who have oppressed them...but, in as much as
possible, they do not pass on the abuse and thus they break the chain of
cruelty and ultimately set thems'elves and others free. These brave
martyrs are not always able to awaken fully in this lifetime but we know
that they will in time shed the burden of pain and anguish that they
bear and join us in the sacred dance that celebrates our life among the
Stars. We honor these and do what we can to soothe and heal them.
It would be easy for us to hate the goblins, grimlins and orcs (and
surely they have done much to deserve our hate and disgust) however,
hate is their way and not ours. The elven way is the path of
enchantment, of love and of healing. Their path is one of prejudice;
ours must be tolerance. We must not let ours'elves be sucked down into
the stagnant morass of their fears and phobias. That does not mean that
we should trust them, for in truth we can no more trust them then we
could a rattlesnake...we must handle them very delicately and always
with great caution. Yet, we must never forget that, as hard as it is to
admit, we are related to these poor depraved, pathetically cruel
people. This is not to say that we are the same, for we are no more the
same than a Bird of Paradise is the same as a vulture; however, they are
our ancient kin... they bear our blood within them. Have you never
wondered why the dark elves (vampires) and dark pixies (goths) and many
otherkind are born and raised by them? In time, these tortured souls
will disappear from the earth and be born again in the bright and
shining radiance of elfland.
Is it any wonder that they fear and despise us? Not only do we
represent the end of everything that they believe to be the basis of
their world but we also have and continue to enchant and "steal" the
hearts and minds and imaginations of their own children who awaken to
their elfin being and are astonished and perplexed to have the parents
that they have. These Dylsovasli (changelings) are the key to the
transformation of the earth. As they slowly replace goblins and
grimlins and orcs, so too, will their basic thought patterns and
lifewaves transform creating a new vibratory atmosphere of love and
light whose interweaving shall create that mystical place of all our
dreams come true... tae syranin eld eli kor farri (the enchanted realm
we call Faerie).
kyela,
the SILVER ELVES

Well Met Kith and Kin,
First off, let my appologize for my prolonged silence.
Mundane affairs have kept me somewhat busy of late. Indeed, even now, I
am writing this on my lunch break. Now onto the list...
In Tir Na nOc, issue #99, Linz writes:
> there are also those who have decided that they themselves are not in
> human bodies. they insist that their bodies have changed due to their
> Awakening. the only thing i will say on this (for now) is that if there are
> people walking around who aren't human, with all the DNA and blood testing
> going on, i would well imagine that they would have been discovered and are
> either in laboratories or are being closely monitored.
I believe that perhaps Linz places a bit too much faith in modern-day
scientists and doctors. It has been my experience that, like many
others of this era, these doctors and scientists much prefer to write
off any varience from the norm as either an anomaly or equipment
malfunction. The concept of a sentient race existing within this realm
other than humanity is so far out of the paradigm that the concept
doesn't even occur to them.
Indeed, I recently went through a full physical exam, as part of my
out-processing from the military, including testing of both blood and
urine, and I was more than a little concerned that events as Linz
describes in her posting would come to pass once the doctors discovered
that my DNA wasn't entirely human. However, such events never did
occur. Even my extremely rapid (by human standards) heart rate was
written off as the effects of stress and poor physical condition.
Blessed Be,
Tal Leonan
================================================================
Moderator's Note: Here's another take on that issue. In various medical
exams over the years doctors have often noted that I possess physical
characteristics that are higly unusual... one example being generation of
new adult teeth after an adult tooth has been knocked out. After much head
scratching and puzzling over such things, the doctor usually ascribes it to
the realm of "unusual and rare but not outside the realm of what can
normally occur in homo sapiens." Humanity is an incredibly adaptive race
and can evolve all kinds of strange permutations on "the norm" and
generally as long as it's not causing physical distress, doctors tend to
leave it alone. Human DNA appears in nearly infinite variations so doctors
may not *realize* that certain DNA characteristics are non-human... they
may be ascribed to "nothing I've seen before but obviously not abnormal"
since the individual doesn't have any apparent health problems. Simply
put, I do believe that medical science is fully capable of detecting our
differences, but that since tests are interpreted by people who simply do
not consider the possibility that we are not human, those test results are
interpreted as unusual but human, and as long as we're apparently healthy
it's let go at that. Having had medical professionals in my family I've
come to find that a surprising amount of wierd things doctors find are let
slide as long as the patient is clearly healthy --T.

Perhaps, it is not an issue of the amount of time that has passed, so
much as one of one's perception of same. For those whose memories and
experiences are measured in terms of years and decades, the time of
Luminosity would indeed seem to be very far away, while those who
measure their age and experience in centuries and milenium, it would be
in the (relatively) recent past. This is an area which I have
discovered can lead to quite a bit of confusion if not clarified ahead
of time...

I am reminded of a young student I had sometime ago, who when I asked
what he wished to accomplish, he replied, "My goal is a simple thing; I
wish to know all which may be learned."

Silver Elves wrote a most splendid essay on leadership and government in
elven cultures, which I shant repost for bandwidth's sake.
First off, I would like to thank Silver Elves for sharing. It has been
some time since this particular elf has had the pleasure of benefiting
from words which are both so wise and so eloquent.
Secondly, I would like to re-emphasize something Silver Elves said on
the subject of leadership:
> however, among the elven the title of king or queen is not a
> position of status or authority...it is rather a position of
> responsibility (rather like being a Gypsy King, the gyspies are

I could not agree more! Time and again I have tried to impress upon
others, with only limited success I'm afraid, that leadership is a
position most closely tied to duty and responsibility, not wealth, power
or influence. Indeed, I suspect if all mortal leaders possesed the same
degree of monetary wealth as I, there would be very few leaders, indeed!
; )
Somewhat later, Silver Elves writes:
> The elfin poet and sage Tagor wrote: "Tae natsi hedlu gobsoli
> nar loqwifali nar wanfalu dotara; tae Feldar hedlu elfanodurli nar
> edarli nar tololu kyela". (The devil seeks slaves and followers and
> demands obedience; the Divine seeks companions and friends and accepts

This quotation seems to imply, at least to me, a mastery of the elven
tongue (or at least a dialect thereof) which I have not seen before. I
know I myself know some few words, but these come to me unbidden, from
an unknown source, and hardly anything I have control over. Certainly,
if you have knowledge of fully developed language, I suspect that I am
not the only one who would be interested in your findings.

Well, it would seem that I have run out of both time and posts to
responded to. Look forward to an original post in the not too distant
future. Until then...
