Greetings Otherkin!
First off, a little tidbit to pass along to all of you.
Some of you may have gotten an email that's been going around lately that
has an attachment of a cute little Hallmark greeting card. The card
features a cute little dog that runs back and forth in front of a computer
peeking at you, and then pops up and touches the monitor and the words
"You're It!" appear. It's a cute little card. Unfortunately, I found out
recently that some of the copies of it circulating around contain a trojan
horse virus :(. The trojan horse is a password sniffer for AOL, and if
your computer is infected it will send your AOL password to the originator.
Not all copies of this card have the virus, the one I had does although a
couple of people I know got clean versions of the card. If you've received
an electronic Hallmark greeting card, you can check for the presence of the
trojan horse by using the SYSEDIT function on your computer (In the start
or file menu choose "RUN" and type "sysedit", that will bring up your
configuration files. Be very careful how you edit these). Look in the
WIN.INI file under (extensions). If you see a line there that says:
@ha=C:\WINDOWS\HALLMARK.EXE ^.aha
***DELETE THAT LINE ONLY***. This will disable the call to the trojan
horse. You can then go delete the file "Hallmark.exe" from your hard drive
if you still have it. Check in the C:\windows directory, it appears to
copy itself over to there from wherever you have it on your hard drive.
This thing also does not show up on a scan by either McAffee or Dr.
Solomon's, I know. I ran both on it. The friend who sent it to me had no
idea it was infected so even if you've gotten it from someone you know and
trust, you might still wish to check.
If you have the trojan horse and you are not on AOL you will probably not
have experienced any ill effects (a few people I've talked to started
having problems with thier internet software but deleting the file and that
line solved them). It does not do any lasting damage and removing the file
and the line cleans your computer. However if you find it and you have an
AOL account, go to keyword: ROZ for information or contact AOL and change
your passwords right away.
Samhain is near upon us and all around me I find my kin and friends feel
the same thing I do... that the veils seem thinner than usual at this time
of year when they are at thier thinnest *anyway*. Almost everyone I know
has had some kind of strange experience involving things from other realms,
other realities. I know in my personal case, I had a recent experience
with watching a small dimensional rift open up and a sparkling multicolored
and not altogether benign being venture out and attempt to coax me into
allowing some more mentally intimate form of contact. And this was not
visible to the "othersight", as it were... but to my physical eyes. Boy,
was *I* startled. And yes, I did spend the next couple days frantically
searching through books and reference sources on eye diseases :). I was on
IRC when this happened and described the entire thing as it occurred... if
anyone is interested I can make an edited version of the log available
consisting of just my comments so you can see the full description of what
happened.
The reason I bring this up is that I would like to encourage everyone who's
had similar experiences recently to talk about them. You don't have to
post them here, publically, if you feel uncomfortable with it. But talk
about them with one another, too. I have this intuitive feeling that these
things are all important and are related to other similar things occuring
with others of our Kin, and that if we talk about them perhaps we can see
some kind of pattern emerging.

ooh kewl! hey, where do you live? this is a fairly widespread list, i'm
sure we could find someone near to you that you might be able to get
together with and compare notes or something. i myself am in atlanta. :)

i am oft reminded of a shel silverstein poem wherein a boy asks a zebra is
he black with white stripes or white with black stripes... i =like= to
think that most people are good with some bad tendecies. but there are
people who are bad with good tendencies. in the same way, there are seelie
with unseelie tendencies, and unseelie with seelie tendencies. i don't
think anyone can be purely one or the other. well, there are exceptions,
but i think they're rare.
>Being Otherkin in such a banal

i myself somestimes gigglingly imagine myself to be leading a bit of a
double life. my two sides aren't that different from each other, but i have
my mundane side and i have my otherkin side. my mundane side isn't that
mundane (at least i like to think that i'm not that mundane), but i know
that there are some situations where being "out" about my faeness might not
be the best idea. (i can just see me telling my shrink, "yeah, and i think
i'm really a Brinn, which is a race of fellinids, and we lived in a place
called the tir, in another realm of reality, uh huh." yeah, =that='d go
over =real= well. NOT.) so, i have the side of me which hangs out with
humans and pretends to be one of them, and then i have the side of me which
feels most comfy with other fae. that side doesn't get to come out and play
as much as it'd like, but hey, i'm grateful for the times when it can.
that's the wicked imp part of me that likes to toss balls of energy at
people when they're not expecting it, or the side that tells unwitting
innocent bystanders that they have purple frogs on their heads. the fun
side, if you will.
well, i think i've rambled enough. :)

Greetings Kith and Kin!
Rather than the past, today I am thinking about the
present. Last Sunday
I attended an academic conference of scholars who specialize in East Asian
Studies. There were about a hundred and fifty brilliant people all
gathered together in one place (excluding me of course, I'm far from
brilliant) and listening to them debate the finer points of life was an
education in and of itself.
Lunch found me at a nearby Indian restaurant just
sitting down to a cold
beer and hot Punjab curry when I was joined by two people from the
conference, both in media studies. The subject of the internet and some
of its interesting possibilities came up and we found ourselves discussing
mailing lists, both the listserv variety and ones like this. Since this
is the only list I subscribe to, this is the one I used as an example, but
for the first time in my life I found myself in the awkward position of
having to explain the Elfin world to an outsider. It was not comfortable.
I opened with a discussion of the verfiable historic
data which I
attribute to elfs, and then a short discussion of how elfin memories
affect people living in a very different world, trying the whole time to
cast everything in a scholarly tongue both to ease their understanding and
save myself some humiliation, and I found myself wondering why I was
bothering. Knowing something is true within the confines of my memory,
and trying to interpret that internal reality for someone not in a
position to comprehend the impact it has on my daily life, gave me an
opportunity to re-evaluate just what I can do to ease the process of
understanding between those of us who live in many worlds and those who
live in only one.
The mundane world that surrounds us is a minor
deviation in a long
history, those of us who remember earlier lives or other-worldly lives
know this as well as we know that the sun rises in the east and sets in
the west, but when faced with the task of communicating this simple thing
to another person face to face, I found myself hedging and avoiding the
delicate issue of how much this knowledge means to me personally. Do
others of you have this problem? How do you discuss your elfin or
otherkin heritage with someone who has no memories that correlate to your
own? What do you do when you are face to face with someone pre-disposed
to assume you are either badly mistaken, or possible even insanely
delusioned? I fear, due to the nature of the community I am now in, this
type of situation will inevitably arise from time to time so any
experiences others on this list might like to share would be very helpful
to me.
at
your service day and night,
greyhawk

There is a lot of power now, and the help of a few more good people than
just I
is needed to direct it and keep it in control! Construction is so much better
than destruction, and it always works better with a good group of friends,
but
there are always more who want to destroy :(
Like the majority of us on the Tiernan list, we all sense, know, feel, think,
believe, see, and experience many aspects of human life differently than
all of
the others we live with in mundane life, and that is what makes us "Human" by
definition, makes us alone in our own minds and separated much more than our
past lives. We know this in not the truth to being alive on this world and
our
fellow members have shared the memory that builds confidence by building on
our
communal images of "sharing dreams of being awake". It is time to take it
up to
the next step and make it more real in this world!
I have always been slightly less than happy, joyful and a "delightful person"
to be around. My belief in Ben Franklin's "Optimistic Pessimist" outlook and
deep, critical and 90-degree-off-kilter views have been more to the point and
intense by human standards. Expecting the worst, and hoping for the best,
beats
the hell out of being completely unrealistic and unimaginative. Some hear
voice,
many visit other worlds, others stretch time and space to help make our
dreams
come true, and the worst thing any us can do is lose our dreams. This
tends to
be much more of a problem for some of us by not creating enough new dreams
for
our selves and others, than wasting time on small, meaningless failures to
meet
spotty and petty personal tasks that don't go perfectly. As some people
quote,
Don't sweat the little stuff!
Each and every one of our close friends and distant enemies has a name for
us.
They love us, or hate us, and usually to drastically farther extremes than we
want. Many call us unbalanced, disturbed, insane, and worst but we are also
told
that Genius rides a fine line with insanity. These are all true. This is
part of
our legacy and we should never deny it! There is no honor more true can
proclaiming your true colors to all that ask.
As turmoil as daily life can be, things are really active now.
Major changes are happening with every one and every thing. I do have to say
that it is time to move! Can't say what, why or when, or where but this is
the
wrong place to be, Now and ...soon..!
I have worked for the last few years to make the application of my
exchangeable
talents in this world much more mobile, without having to move a foot...
(hard
to describe) The better part of the last month was spent going through my
things
finding those that were important to me and rescued something like 20 boxes
of
usable goods to worth charity. I hope these people in need can use the wasted
efforts of my funds. We all should do the same, for what ever reasons
appeal to
us. This is part of the higher calling we all share, and don't ignore it,
lest
we lose a part of ourselves and mission.
The deepest responsibility of anyone should be to take care of their own
existence first, then their children, then significant others, then our
society,
but we all share the calling to reach to our otherkin. There are some
troubled
times ahead which we must use our new knowledge ahead! There are some
great things brewing that will make it easier to be able to teach everyone
what
we all need to learn.
We share a common drive for something we can't describe, and this includes
our
will and need to share, our ability to help others needs, and only by doing
this
will we regain this world, not to make the 'wants'of the many prevail. The
Rangers and Norman's among us should remember not doing your duty is much
heavier
on carma than any dogma kind of could ever justify! It is time to fight
competency, and deal with the real issues.
Some quotes:
When the Hopi Nation vanishes, the earth motion will be disturbed, the water
will swallow the land and the people will perish. Mota-Hopi Medicine Man,
A.D.
1100
This prophecy implies that the Hopi people will be pushed off their land and
their sacred dances and rituals no longer performed. At the moment, there is
intense pressure from mining companies to move into Hopi lands. There are
also
members of the Hopi tribe that have stopped performing the scared ceremonies.
The reference to the earth motion being disturbed, aligns with some current
scientific thinking that the earth may change its magnetic pole alignment
in our
life time. It has been 12,000 years since the last alignment. We are due.
In the
past, pole realignment has meant massive weather changes, land masses
disappearing and news ones replacing them and the extinction of life forms.
Egyptian
The final period of the Adamic Age is between A.D. 1953-2001. The Great
Pyramid
of Cheops. B.C. 5000
It has been thought for many years that the Great Pyramid in Egypt is an
ancient
marker that contains all the important information about the Earth. It's
size,
position in the galaxy, circumference etc. It also has been postulated that
measurements in the passages ways to the central "kings" chamber are
predictions
(time line) of earth history. It has been said that each inch of the
passageway
corresponds to a year of earth time. This system of measurement has already
predicted the coming of Christ, the rise of Hitler etc. The passage way
runs out
between A.D. 1953-2001, implying a major milestone/change in the planets
history.
France-Nostradamus
The year of the great schism numbers A.D. 2000. It will appear near the
time of
the great Millennium. C10-Q74 Nostradamus 1555
Nostradamus, Centuries, predicted many events that have taken place since
1955.
His coded messages for future generations of been the subject of many debates
and books over the years. He is one of many voices predicting a change in
human
history in the near future.
England-Mother Shipton
When pictures come alive, when ships swim beneath the seas, when men outstrip
birds and soar into the sky, then half the world, drenched in blood, shall
die.
Mother Shipton 1641.
This prophecy seems to be about pictures coming alive, (movies) ships
swimming
under the ocean (submarines) and men flying (airplanes, space craft). It
seems
to be talking about us.
Central America-Mayan
The end of life as we know it_.A.D. December 21, 2012. Mayan Calendar B.C.
400.
The Mayans developed an incredibly accurate calendar. They predicted that
life
as we knew it would end on December 21, 2012. Doesn't necessarily mean end of
humans, just a change. A big one.
America-George Washington
Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful for her
will be
the third but even the world united will not prevail against her. George
Washington-Dream at Valley Forge 1777.
George Washington has a series of dreams/visions at Valley Forge in the dark
times of the Amercian Revolution. He claimed he was visited by an angel that
told him things about the future of America. This particular prophesy was
about
the two great wars that have occurred and the possibility of a third one at
the
turn of the Millennium .

"...Sanity is but a collection of averages,
average data for an average world
(the common of what must be)."

Subject: Apologies*MAGICAL ELVEN LOVE LETTERS
Apologies come easy for the elfin...
Beloved Kin,
.....we are ever ready to set aside our pride to soothe the feelings and
feathers of another. This is easy for us because our goal is always
union. We seek to overcome the differences that separate us from
others...not by destroying those differences but by accepting and
embracing them.
We have little interest in argument or debate...we are very
curious about the opinions and beliefs of others (as we are curious
about nearly everything) but we have no intention of arguing who is
right or wrong or who is better, etc. In general, we believe that
everyone's opinions are valid for thems'elves. We have no desire to
force our opinions on others and while we are open to ideas presented to
us, force in the long run is of little avail against the elves. We do
not seek to win arguments, victory for us comes not from winning over
others but by winning others over...by making friends and by, as much as
possible, accepting and loving people as they are while simultaneously
encouraging the best in them.
In a state of war or conflict we are always willing to compromise
wherever possible...we have found though long hard lessons that
vanquishing others leads to perpetual cycles of confrontation...our goal
is always to end conflict by compromise...to develop a habit of
arbitration that endures. It is true that there are times when
compromise is not possible...and that is a great sadness for the
elven...we would be friends with everyone...unfortunately not everyone
is, as yet, ready to be friends with us.
Apologies do not come readily for those who have fragile egos which
they are in constant need of defending, however, this is seldom the
problem with the elfin. If anything the opposite is true...the elven
ego has, particularly in its youthful stages a propensity toward
arrogance and it is this that we must constantly guard ours'elves
against. Our philosophy requires constant s'elf abnegation to
succeed...the alliances we create are often tender and delicate at first
and they could not bear the pressure of the fiercely beautiful
countenance that can both entrance and terrify most humans...we must go
about the world as wee foke, who are both kind and harmless. However,
this is only possible for the most advanced of elfin who dare to drop
their outer aura of defensiveness and who are powerful and wise and can
afford to allow their inner child (elf)...out.
There is no hurry, elfin, no time schedule, no requirements, no way
to make things happen before their time...we are birthing a people
here...we are bringing to fruition the magic of aeons...our gentle elfin
race shall be born and sing and dance upon this planet bringing a better
day for all and like all births it is best if we allow the pregnancy to
come to full term, nurturing it, singing to it, stroking it tenderly
within the womb of our own inner being and it shall come forth in its
own time and bring light and love into a darkened world. We know that
there are those who feel the tension of the coming times and who would
urge us to hurry things along...but we do not listen to them. Those are
the voices of the panicking and the mad and when they say hurry, hurry
the time is nigh, we hear, relax, relax the time is not yet, for it can
not come until the voice of laughter sounds the clarion call of their
arrival.
A simple smile, when genuine, is a magic so powerful that it
reaches beneath the facade of ideologies into the very heart that yearns
to know: are you a friend? can I trust you? will you bring harm to me?
In a world of constant threat and competition, we are the solution...we
threaten no one (although some, in their paranoia may mistakenly think
so) and we are eager to cooperate for the benefit of each and all. The
musketeers saying of "one for all and all for one" is an ancient elfin
proverb. The word elf in our language bears the connotation of both
friend and lover.
This philosophy of cooperation and harmlessness extents not only to
our human kindred, but also to our kindred among the trees, the plants,
the animals and even among the insects...we strive in as much as
possible to do no harm. That is why as we evolve deeper and deeper into
our true elfin natures, our souls, that we tend to become vegetarians
and will someday (however not in the forseeable future) be air-itarians
and ulitmately, in our fully blossomed divinity, totally s'elf
sustaining...we will consume ours'elves but never die. In the meantime
(and we do mean mean-time) we must simply do our best. Again, there is
no hurry, we have eternity after all to evolve within and ultimately we
come to realize that in every bit of harm that we do we are only hurting
ours'elves. Whatever name we use to decorate ours'elves with, we are
still all souls (elves, from our point of view) struggling to bloom. So
remember: we could easily make people afraid but it is better in the
long run for both them and us if we make them friends. We can kill to
survive but we can live without killing. We can fight for a piece of
the pie or we can cooperate and bake more. We can force people to do
our will but we can never force them to truly love us; yet if we love
people purely and unattached it will create such joy in their hearts
that they would gladly die for us. The elfin are an immersely powerful
people and our power is this: we have each other, we have friends, we
sing and dance and smile and love and we shape a world with our dreams
and visions and you, yes, you, every single one, are invited to join us
and be your own unique 'elf.
The truth is that if it was not for our elfinkin most of us would
have given up a long time ago...rolled over and died or would have taken
our own lives or simply curled up in a corner and gone catatonic or be
wandering among the drugged out walking wounded or worst yet have turned
into something truly obscene and perverse. But the elves came along
with a smile and a song and our souls stirred and even now, if it was
not for you, we don't know what we'd do. Your just being there means so
very much to us. Without you, we'd be nowhere, for without our dear
beloved elfin this world is a waste land, a nuclear holocost of the soul
and spirit and the mind; but you, dear precious elfin, are blades of
grass pushing up through the cracks in the concrete and we delight to
know that this is so.
kyela,
the SILVER ELVES
