Greetings Otherkin!

Once again I find myself in the position of apologizing for the
sporadic-ness of the list.  Between the new job and some other projects
I've got going IRL, I've been under time constraints.  To those of you
who've written me personally on one thing or another, if you haven't heard
from me back yet hang in there... bit by bit I'm getting caught up.

{Administrative note:}
I am in the process of moving this mailing list over to a majordomo server,
the delay in  setting that up being that the sysadmin is having some
problems with thier majordomo  server.  When it does become available, I'll
be sending out a note to everyone letting them know how to subscribe.  I
suspect that in the process of converting there may well be several of you
who are "lost in the transition", as we've several subscribers who haven't
been heard of since about week three the list was being sent out (Over two
years ago now!).  To try and minimize that, I will overlap for a few weeks,
compiling digests of the list and sending them out manually to those who
haven't subbed to the majordomo, and I will try to remove names from the
manual list as I see them pop up on the majordomo.  If, however, you get
copies from both, drop me an email and remind me to move your name off the
manual list.  I will send out a notice to everyone still on the manual list
when the last manual list is sent, if you get that notice and haven't
subbed yet to the majordomo let me know.

Greetings Kith and Kin!
I read through the great length and diverse wisdom of the most recent Tir
Nan Oc, and if I had been a cartoon character a light bulb would have
popped into existence above my head with a very loud "BING!" when I read
this last bit:

> BTW, just a random thought here...but has anyone ever thought
> about how much advantage there is to using the human realm as
> a place for diverse Otherkin to meet? Humans all have the same
> basic form, so when everyone is forced to wear a human form,

One of the issues that pops up in this list over and over again is: "Why
are the Otherkin here, in this place, at this time?  Why are we trapped on
a world where we are outcasts, unloved, unwanted, and labelled as insane?"
Many different answers have been offered, everything ranging from the need
to "take back" the human world to the possibility that we are somehow
supposed to "save the human world from itself".  Now, out of the blue, we
have someone who is not only glad to be here, but has an insight that I
can't believe has not bee discussed before!  What an idea!  It is so
reasonable, it might even be real!
On my world, there has been almost constant warfare for tens of thousands
of years.  Despite this, the people of my world regard themselves as both
peaceful and peace-loving.  Still, I have to admit, if the Elfs of my world
were suddenly thrown in contact with the Sidhe or Tuatha de Dannan Elfin
races, there would be a period of extremely high tension that might erupt
into open conflict.  Now however, since I have been here and learned not
only of the need to find commonality, but also of the reality of
commonality between all otherkin, if I return and am thrust into a
leadership position and then suddenly thrown in touch with one of the noble
races, my first instinct will be to look for the things we have in common
and build up from there.  Perhaps the reason so many different
represenatives of so many different Elfin and Otherkin peoples are here, on
this world and at this time has more to do with the reality of forced
commonality this world creates and the possibilities for open communication
that this forced commonality demands than with any contribution Otherkin
themselves have to make to this world itself.
That was very condensed.  Did everyone follow me?  Basically what I'm
saying is not only do I agree with Amanjaku totally, but I think they may
have accidentally stumbled upon the answer we have all been looking for.
We are here, because being here forces us to interrelate in ways that would
be impossible on our native worlds.
at your service day and night,
                                        greyhawk

I have been thinking about this. Remember that we all write from our own
perspectives. If someone says that all Elves have blah in common, well,
that is their opinion. You can take it or leave it, but I don't see any
reason to get offended. The Silver Elves speak their opinions without a lot
of couching, IMO's, YMMV's and other disclaimers. Rather than see that as a
flaw, I respect them for stating their views with that kind of
forthrightness. I find their posts inspiring. Keep them coming guys :)

I think Chiller put it nicely:
>What I mean is ... we can only become annoyed or upset by
>the SilverElves' posts if we assume them to be "further down
>the path", or "more advanced" or "wiser" than any of the
>rest of us.  Of course, they are none of these things ...
>they are just other people, with opinions, as are we all.

I think they speak not only to those who started human and who are becoming
elven, but also to those of us who are "Pure-Blood Otherworlder" as named
by elena ashline. (I think it was elena, the post looked like it was
quoting Viator). In a way, by reAwawkening, we are rediscovering oursElves,
and so can be said to be rebecoming Elves or Otherkin.

I would echo Chiller's wish for a gentler, more accepting frame of mind.
I've seen people jump to conclusions and get all bent out of shape over
what are to me really small things. A little more benefit of the doubt
could go a long way. I hope that this *is* just a symptom of an emerging
community. I would hate to see the backbiting and witchwars of the pagan
community become the norm in the Otherkin community as well.

Amanjanku, I think the glossary idea is awesome :) It's an idea whose time
has definitely come.
I'm not sure I agree with the definition of "Elf".
"Elf
A term describing a tall, fair, magickally adept race of people."
Not all of us are tall and fair, I'm not sure what defines Elf, really,
except that people know when they are one.

" 'Elves' are sometimes specifically thought of as being native to
Aelfheim, but the term
is sometimes used interchangeably with the term 'sidhe'."
I would rather this read that Elves can come from a number of places (and
listing all the ones we know of might be helpful), and that they have been
mistaken? for the sidhe. The sidhe are also called Elves by mythology.
FYI, my own people now have a name for ourselves, we are the Elenari. Since
we aren't really from the Aelfheim of Norse mythology, this was only a
nickname for our world, calling ourselves Elenari rather than "Aelfheimers"
will probably avoid a lot of confusion.

As such, the description:
"Another sidhe home realm. Memories of Aelfheim seem to include some
mountainous territories, as well as a climate that permits snow."
This is kind of simplistic and misleading, no offense. Aelfheim is, as I
said, a nickname we used for our home realm, it is *not* the real name of
the home realm. I'm out of time today, but I'll send you a brief descripion
of it in private e-mail.

Perhaps we could also add on this "FAQ" page (is it going to be a page?)
links to the pages that are about our languages. The two I know of are on
Rialian's page and one on Lanthinel's page.

Blessings,

Sileniel

Hi.

I've subscribed to the list for a long time, and when I first joined, I
wrote an introduction.  However, I tend to be a lurker, and haven't
written since.  However, I've read everything with great interest.
However, all I've read has only served to make me question myself further,
with no answers.  I still don't know if I'm other-kin, although I feel
that even if I'm not, I have a strong connection with other-kin in some
way.

Anyway, I wanted to know how you can tell if you've met someone in a past
life.  For the last year of High school, (4.5 years ago), I had a friend
with whom I shared a deep, intense friendship.  We met in october, and
completely clicked.  However, for some reason I don't completely
understand, we broke up in June.  It was very sad, although not angry.
However, the one time she spoke to me, in december of that year, we were
cool and distant.

I've moved around a lot, and went to several high- and elementary schools,
and therefore have had many friendships, which break up when I move, and
leaveme not to much the worse for wear.  However, this friendship effected
me deeply, and I still regret the loss of the friendship, and the friend.
(I still see her frotime to time, but we never speak).

Anyhow, all this is to ask if the reason she had such a profound impact on
my life, even though our association was so short, might be thatshe played
some part in a past life.

Just a question that's been nagging me persistantly for the last while.
Can anyone suggest a way I might be able to trigor a memory, or sort this
thing out?

Thanks for your patience.

Char

Fardonvartu (Personality)....
Elyna (Beloved),
.....is a word often used to describe the various traits and
characteristics of an individual.  However, there is also an occult (and
these elves are occultists) understanding of the personality
(toryoltar) which defines it as the combined "lower" bodies of the
individual.  That is the physical, material, etheric body; the feeling,
emotional, astral body; and the thought, mind, mental body.
When these three aspects of the personality are at odds with each
other we find inner conflict and a variety of disfunctionality, neurosis,
etc.  Each of us probably experiences or has experienced this at various
times in our lives.  When these three are functioning in unity, they make
for a powerful and whole individual. (However, a black (evil) magician
could have all three acting in very effective coordination and still pursue
the "left hand path".)  It is this personality that is our means of
manifesting within the material world.  They are the various levels and
forms of our physicality.
Our true elfin nature, as we have said previously, resides in and
originates from our immortal (elven) soul.... our Der (pronounced Dear).
It is this Soul, this 'Elf, that is seeking to manifest through the "lower"
(more material) bodies.  There are some who think that we are trapped in
these bodies and trying to escape; however, it is our view that we have
chosen to manifest within these bodies and are merely experiencing the
disorientation that still comes when we descend into the thick and murky
depths of the material realm.
We know what the personality is...we are familiar with the physical
body, the emotions and our mind...but what is this elfin soul we are
talking about?  The Der is our true s'elf.  It might best be recognized as
those dreams, visions, aspirations and inclinations towards a fully magical
and enlightened 'elfhood.  It is what many call our "higher self".  The
s'elf is striving to manifest on the material plane and the StarGate
between the realms exists within our hearts and minds (our
thought-emotes).  By intentionally (magic) bringing our thoughts, feelings
and physical body in harmony with our visions and dreams of our Der, we
begin to truly materialize as Elves upon the earth.
For most of us this has not been an entirely easy task...it is nothing
less than gaining Antrath (Mastery) over our every thought, every feeling
and ultimately our physical body.  This is made more difficult by the fact
that descent into the material realm tends to make us temporarily lose
consciousness and memory of our true 'elves.  We are deceived into thinking
that we are our bodies (material/etheric, emotional/astral and
thought/mental).  None the less, our elfin nature calls out to us and when
we awaken to the fact that we are truly elves we can begin to realize that
our bodies are merely vehicles for the manifestation of our 'elf in these
realms.  Thus we seek to shift our consciousness from our bodies into our
Der.
As we have indicated, for most of us, it is not easy to bring our
bodies into harmony with our Der on a constant and continual basis and from
the point of view of those whose consciousness is centered on the material
plane it may seem that we are failures, that we are not truly elves because
we don't have pointed ears, or we are unable to manifest all the magical
powers we say elves have or that we simply turn out to be on a particular
day a "sarcastic s.o.b." instead of the intelligent and magical elf we
claim to be.  But the truth is....ELI DA ELDALI (WE ARE ELVES) and the fact
that we don't always manifest as elves is merely an indication of how very
hard it is, thus far, to do so in the physical world.  Even if we failed
all the time to maifest our elfiness...even if we failed lifetime after
lifetime, which some of us have done, we are still elves.  Because...our
true s'elf is NOT our material manifestation but our IMMORTAL DER, our
ELFIN SELF.
While it is often difficult to realize this when we are struggling in
these bodies to manifest, it becomes abundantly clear to us as we shed
these bodies and "pass over" through the mists of death into the realms of
the Eldar...our beloved kindred, who await us with open arms after each and
every mission whether we succeed or not.  All that is important truly...is
that we Try (Uj pronounced like huge without the "h").  It is the effort to
manifest within this realm that is significant.  Every attempt to bring our
bodies in harmony with our Der...to materialize as an elf on the physical
plane...is an act of magic!  It sets up a vibration that resonates through
time and space and makes it easier both for ours'elves and other 'elves to
manifest here in the future.  We cannot truly fail if we keep trying.
Another illusion created by our descent into matter is the tendency to
think that we are separte from each other.  We often feel lonely or
abandoned or unappreciated...our lower or petty egos struggle to rise above
the crowd, to secure our special and individual nature.  However, in the
Buddhic plane or what we call the Eldli U Mellun  (Realms of Starlight)
from which our 'elves originate there is no separation...that is not to say
that we are not individual...in fact our higher ego, our true unique and
individual nature is an established fact...but it is also clear to us that
that s'elf is an integral part of a vast, complex and interwoven whole.  We
are intimately aware of each other, we are intuitively and psychicly in
communion.  We may sometimes be deceived by the morass of the physical
plane into bickering with each other and arguing over insignificant details
which on our "home worlds" are truly "immaterial".  There the only thing
that really matters is the love we share.
You are always with us in our hearts and minds, dearest, and sometimes
the physical distance that lays between us in this realm seems nearly
unbearable and we would not tolerate it for a moment if it were not for the
great dharma we have undertaken.  There are those who think that we wish to
hide from the darkness, or deny it or deal only with the light and
loving...but the bittersweet truth and what should be ovbvious to those who
have been reading these letters for some time is we are not trying to
escape from the darkness (materiality)...but to embrace it.  We are not
here to leave but HERE TO STAY...it is our intention to merge with...marry
if you will...the dark...to illuminate it and shape it to our and that
greater will we serve.  We are co-creaters in the vast scheme of evolution
and this...seeming miasmic swamp of greed, war, desparation, envy, petty
squabbles, bickering, apathy, disharmony and disbelief is, in reality...
our KOLAN U ALELI (Field of Dreams).
kyela and des'tai,
the SILVER ELVES

===Thought I would pass around notice that there is now at least a
registration form for the gathering...This, as many other things, is subject
to revision, but this should let people have something to work with when
sending in money to register.  I believe that notice has been placed on the
three lists I am sending this info to, if not, please feel free to check out
the pages mentioned...this is looking to be a pretty good gathering.

===Hello all!  I thought I would put out an idea for a possible workshop for
the gathering, and see what people though.  One of the questions that comes
about for awakening sorts is how do relationships work afterward.  Some
types of fae (Such as myself, an elf) tend to go polyamorous, while others
tend towards monogamy..(A dragon or two I have talked to has said that is
their way).  This can, understandably, cause problems and confusion,
especially if you are in a different sort of relationship at the time when
you awaken. I am trying to get an idea of what sort of tendencies are out
there...I do have some theories on why there might be differences, but I do
want to get a better idea of what others think.

Subject: Hello, question for everyone..

Greetings all...

I have been reading the mailing list for a while now, and find myself in a
bit of a dilema.

I am Otherkin, of the wolf persuasion. I also have Fae in me as well.  But
I am living in the society (as I remember it) of the Wolf-kin. But I am
having a problem in that my mate wishes to have two Alphas. This would be
herself, another male as Alpha, and myself as Alpha.

If he were Awake, I don't think that we'd have problems. But he does not
know the society, and is not really that willing to learn. And he is doing
a good job of acting, enough so that he is fooling her. Can a two Alpha
situation work? Has it ever worked? Can I give her what she hopes for, or
is this simply doomed from the start, as it appears to be?

The friction is getting unbearable for me, which I think is his intent.
(For those who may not know, a wolf pack generally has an Alpha female and
male, and then several beta females and males under them.  As far as I
remember, there isn't in the wild a Female/Alpha/Alpha setup, but I could
be mistaken.)

I'm going to sign this as 'Olde Wulv'.

Thanks..
